Qobustan city. The capital of Gobustan district is the next stop, which is included in the Wine Tasting and Lahij Tour package. Here guests will have an excursion to the place where a real miracle happened about a thousand years ago. The picturesque ravine, which is often called "Little Petra", is famous for the historical mausoleum "Diri Baba". It is visited not only by tourists, but also by pilgrims, since the mausoleum is an active religious building.
After the tour, the bus leaves the desert and goes to the territory of orchards and vineyards, to the temperate climatic zone, the neighboring Shamakhi city.
Shamakhi city is the ancient capital of the medieval Shirvanshah state. In Shamakhi guests will have an excursion to the Juma Mosque - one of the centers of Azerbaijani poetry and viticulture. Guests will find themselves in the walls of a grandiose architectural structure made according to ancient antiseismic technology. A visit to the first Muslim temple in the Caucasus, built in 743 A.D., will introduce tourists to the history of Islam in Azerbaijan and the history of the mosque itself. After that, they will go further along the road that stretches like a ribbon along the Mugan mountain Pass, classic for the Greater Caucasus, and leads to the northwest of Azerbaijan to Ismayilli.
The next activity in this tour package is Wine Tasting in Abqora Restaurant & Wine Club. With our professional guide you will walk among vineyards and have a glance to wine production. After the tour you will taste red, white, and rose wines in the vault and have a lunch in the restaurant located in the territory of the Winery.
The next point will be the village of Lahij, the way to which lies through the forests and serpentine roads of the Caucasus Mountains. You will have the opportunity to see the breathtaking natural canyon, and you will also stop at the Zernava suspension bridge.
The particular architectural style of Lahij will undoubtedly stun you with its two-storey houses and cobbled streets stretching along the banks of the Girdiman River. Lahij is a real village of craftsmen and artisans who have preserved their traditions and technologies of working on non-ferrous metals (copper, bronze). The magnificent works of Lahij masters on copper vessels were exhibited at the World Exhibition in Vienna in 1873 (Weltausstellung 1873). Here, each quarter has its own unique mosque, which reinforces the impression of guests from the village.
